Miles and Ella met freshman year of high school in guitar class, where Miles couldn’t read sheet music and relied on Ella to write the notes for him. He thought she was cute, so he made the bold move of sitting next to her at lunch on the hallway floor outside the art room. Every day he offered her half of his ham sandwich on a Hawaiian roll… until she finally agreed to go to homecoming with him.
